Lord of the Sabbath ?

It’s interesting to me that the majority of Christianity seems to think that having a relationship with Jesus means that one must attach more value to what the church proclaims than what the Messiah Himself taught. This is obviously a Roman Catholic hangover that originated with the Pope being granted the power to override the word of God from His throne

We who have been taught by the Holy Spirit to keep the 4th commandment are thus often challenged with the words, Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath.

Let’s take a deeper look at what Y’shua actually meant in Mar 2:23 and His other references in this regard.

When Y’shua Jesus said He is Lord of the Sabbath, He was NOT saying that sabbath is no longer relevant for His remnant, as Church Pty Ltd is inclined to imply. In truth, He was using His endlessly creative ability to convey an important, deep and hidden prophetic principle within a seemingly simple to understand (at the surface level) sentence.

To understand the fullness of what He was saying it will help a lot to firstly explain what lies underneath the ink we read as ‘the Son of Man will rise again the third day’.

‘The third day’ is a metaphorical way of referring to the very first sabbaton, the 7th day of creation week because only the last three days of creation week contained their full quota of light from the sun that was created on day 4. So the third day Y’shua was referring was not the third day of the week and it wasn’t just the third day after His death. Level 2 of His statement means He will rise again on the weekly sabbath.

Level 3 can be guaged from Hos6;2 … ie, ‘After two days, He will restore us, that in THE THIRD DAY we might live in His presence’. In this case it becomes evident that ‘the third day’ can also mean (in the right context) the sabbath millenium, or the 7th millennial ‘day’… the kingdom of heaven on earth.

The three levels of meaning in ‘the Son of Man will rise again the third day’ should now become plain: ie He will rise again:

a:) On the third day after His death
b) On the sabbath of crucifixion week
c) For the millennial sabbath (the seventh millenium).

Thus, ‘He is indeed Lord of the true sabbath… the sabbath millenium. The weekly sabbath is a prophetic foreshadow of the true sabbath. The true Sabbath is 1000 years of perfect justice and peace. In that ‘day’, the Lion of Judah will ensure that no person will be foolish enough to profane the weekly sabbath or any other Torah instruction, principle, etc.

This also explains what He meant by ‘the sabbath is made for man not man for the sabbath’. The weekly sabbath is not meant to be the ultimate focus (the error of the Pharisees and Talmudists)

It should also be evident that that the reason Moses was instructed in Exo19;15 to prepare the children of Israel against the third day by consecrating them and instructing them to abstain from copulation for two days against the third day, has to do with the fact that hearing YHVH’s voice on the sabbath that week required that every soul be chaste (spirit focused), before him, rather than flesh focused (unclean).

‘The flesh wars against the spirit’. The flesh desires to celebrate sabbath as TGIF partying rather than as a time of spiritual holiness.

Y’shua was renowned for speaking in parables. Before He spoke in the flesh, He spoke as YHVH via Torah, the prophets and all of Tanakh using the same parable language wherever He intended His future kings to gain the experience needed to assist in fulfilling the will of his Father. His deeper meanings can only be understood by those He teaches to hear His voice…ie, those forechosen as His bride. It doesn’t require intellect to hear His voice. It requires mercy. Believing that sabbath is obsolete will not prevent one from entering the promised land, but it could well result in one ending up among those counted as ‘least in the kingdom of heaven’ because they broke the least of His commandments and taught others to do the same …(Mat 5:19).

Why take the chance? Keep the 4th commandment the way those who hear His voice are being taught to keep it…ie, chaste as holy angels.
before His throne… ie, after the manner instructed by Y’shua (via Moses) in Exo19;15

May your weekly sabbath be a foreshadow of your eternal holy sabbath rest.
