Did you know that forgiving a brother 70 times 7 is actually in Toráh as a consequence of not honoring the land rests? It’s not about forgiving your brother 490 times and then the 491st time you crucify him. Christianity has missed the point of what He was saying.
It goes back to Lev 26:34-35. Every 7 years is supposed to be a land rest (sh’míṭáh). This is saying that if they are not honored, for the amount of land rests that were missed, they will be taken captive for the amount of land rests that they missed. House of Judah went to Babylon for 70 years because 70 land rests weren’t honored. “70 times 7” is about land rests.
The two pictures below are of Vayyiq’rá’/Leviticus 26:34-35 (point is highlighted in yellow, background is highlighted in orange) and Matítyáhū/Matthew 18:21-22. Y’shūa` was referring to Leviticus 26, it’s reason why the House of Judah was only in captivity for 70 years. The translation is HalleluYah Scriptures Parallel Edition (HSPE).
